DAILY BIBLE READING FOR THE HUNGRY
D'BRftH INTRODUCTION This aggressive schedule for consumption and digestion of Scripture has been developed to counter today’s environment of aggressive exclusion of God and His Word. Though we love Jesus and want to know Him, we are affected daily by the spiritual rebellion against Him. If you actually try to make the time to follow the schedule with someone and sometimes just can’t make it work, at least opening the website first thing and reading the core message, related verses and meditation points [Flash Cards] will help orient your heart and give you perspective for the day. This DAILY BIBLE READING and MEDITATION schedule is for those who desire to digest more than most yearly, through-the-Bible schedules provide. The decision to expand the feeding on God’s Word may come from an intensified hunger to know God more intimately or it may be specifically to commit to a fresh turning of the heart soil to establish the rulership of Jesus over areas of your life that only He can reach. For many years Nancy & I read through the Bible together following the great yearly schedule, THE DAILY WALK. This schedule is the product of our desire to read more and in varying combinations. During those years of development, we were astounded to see new vistas into God's mind and amazing continuityappeared with layering the Testaments. Following D'BRftH will take the hungry reader through the Old Testament once and through the New Testament four times, reading from both each day. In addition, the Old Testament reading will go through Song Of Solomon twice and Proverbs three times. Each of the 4 times through the New Testament will begin with one of the four Gospels, then closes the year with three more rapid times through all the Gospels, another time through Romans and one last time through the Gospel of John. There are special readings for Valentine’s Day, Leap Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Each day, a short title phrase will suggest one core message in that day’s portion. Clearly, the optimum result will come from all of us reading the entire portion together, so that we start to get the panorama of Scripture in view. Specific verses are spotlighted to zoom in on the suggested core message, followed by a sequence of Flash Cards to trigger meditation. MEDITATION? A wondrous thing about reading and meditating on Scripture is that we are looking into the face of God. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. Why was He made flesh? So men can see Him. He wants us to know Him. That is His own definition of the life He offers us and He says, “Come, taste and see.” Discover and Understand. The more we come to God and see Him through the words we read, the more trustworthy is our perception of Him. Knowing Him is eternal life. Believing on Him is the work that God requires of us. Doing what He says is His indescribable nature brought into physical earth in us so that men may know that HE IS. You, the light of the world, be lit. |
