How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

Judges 4:8-9 Barak told her, “I will go, but only if you go with me!” “Very well,” she replied, “I will go with you. But since you have made this choice, you will receive no honor. For the LORD’s victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.

Proverbs 18:4 A person’s words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook.

NT

4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

:9-10 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

OT Flash Points

Debbie, the Judge?
Jael, the Conqueror?

Proverbs: A recluse/loner is self-indulgent
What a shame to give advice before hearing the whole story
Any story sounds true till someone sets the record straight

NT Flash Points

Pretending to be religious deadens the conscience
Guard what God has entrusted to you
Avoid foolish controversies

Perspective

Facing reality: 2 kinds of facts –
1. Common Sense facts
2. Revelation facts which can’t be proven but must be accepted.
“Believe” Jesus (commit to Him)
Then He reveals Himself
Make sure you are committed to Him and not just a creed
Sin must be killed
Is that my determination?
Am I ready to hear, to discover what God is actually saying?
