The rules got you down?
Leviticus 11/Colossians

How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

11:2 Give the following instructions to the Israelites: The animals you may use for food…

NT

1:15-17 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see- kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.

OT Flash Points

Clean – unclean
Be holy because I am holy
These rules are destined to pass away because they don’t change the heart
Rules only make clear that we need a change of heart and since we can’t make the change, we need a savior
Then we have 3 choices:
1. Make the rules your savior
2. Make the evil nature in you your savior
3. Take Jesus, the Savior of the world, as YOUR Savior

NT Flash Points

We find fault in others to justify the gap between us – preserving our isolated fabrication of the way we think things should be

Perspective

Perfect peace for those whose imagination is set on God
Watching, enjoying the flow of events instead of constraining and manipulating them to our own criteria, starving our imagination
Set your mind on God affectionately and you will be bright
