The “Go” is “Follow” Jesus’ mission to the world
Deuteronomy 1 /Mark 15-16

How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

1:15-17 So I took the wise and respected men you had selected from your tribes and appointed them to serve as judges and officials over you. Some were responsible for a thousand people, some for a hundred, some for fifty, and some for ten. I instructed the judges, “You must be perfectly fair at all times, not only to fellow Israelites, but also to the foreigners living among you. When you make decisions, never favor those who are rich; be fair to lowly and great alike. Don’t be afraid of how they will react, for you are judging in the place of God. Bring me any cases that are too difficult for you, and I will handle them.”

:45-46 Then you returned and wept before the LORD, but he refused to listen. So you stayed there at Kadesh for a long time.

NT

15:37-39 Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain in the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. When the Roman officer who stood facing him saw how he had died, he exclaimed, “Truly, this was the Son of God!”

OT Flash Points

History is the basis for the next step
Doesn’t determine the specific direction
But must be connected
Direction comes from the Word of the Lord
Go – not so you can enter in yourself, but your children

NT Flash Points

Death of our parent – sin
So we can live in God’s presence
“Now go into…” – all the world

Perspective

Fear, dismay, disappointment
Jesus looks strange
He’s looking at something I don’t see
I have no idea where He is going
How do I follow?
Don’t go back to your own fire – endure
Result – unspeakable joy!
