How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

1:6-9 Be strong and courageous, for you will lead my people to possess all the land I swore to give their ancestors. Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. I command you–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

NT

13:8-10 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not covet, and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: Love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

14:1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.

15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

16:17 Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings.

OT Flash Points

Joshua – going across to Jericho
A new generation – a new start

NT Flash Points

Paul – going to the gentile nations
A new generation – Missionaries, those who go and those who co-go
“More souls have been won for Christ by preachers who did what little they could than by renowned evangelists.” [Richard Wurmbrand – IN THE EYES OF SURRENDER] Going is a function of intercession –
Getting the mind of God about a person or people
In other words, WORSHIP

Perspective

Worship and intercession must go together or we misunderstand prayer
The work of intercession taxes every power, with no snare
Intercession – bringing into tangible reality the Atonement for that person or people
Identical to biblical love – agape
