Jeremiah 42-44/Matthew 26-28
Be obedient right where you are.
OT – 42:10-12 Stay here in this land. If you do, I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you. For I am sorry for all the punishment I have had to bring upon you. Do not fear the king of Babylon anymore, says the LORD. For I am with you and will save you and rescue you from his power. I will be merciful to you by making him kind, so he will let you stay here in your land.’
Obedience vss deceit
God’s fury can boil over & fall like fire
NT – 26:1-6 When Jesus had finished saying these things, he said to his disciples, “As you know, the Passover celebration begins in two days, and I, the Son of Man, will be betrayed and crucified.”
At that same time the leading priests and other leaders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest, to discuss how to capture Jesus secretly and put him to death. “But not during the Passover,” they agreed, “or there will be a riot.”
Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had leprosy.
