Rebellion blinds – Jesus gives sight
Lamentations 1-2/Mark 9-10
How to get the most out of Hungry Bible
OT
1:17-18 Jerusalem pleads for help, but no one comforts her. Regarding his people, the LORD has said, “Let their neighbors be their enemies! Let them be thrown away like a filthy rag!” “And the LORD is right,” she groans, “for I rebelled against him. Listen, people everywhere; look upon my anguish and despair, for my sons and daughters have been taken captive to distant lands.”
NT
9:1-4 Jesus went on to say, “I assure you that some of you standing here right now will not die before you see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!” Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the top of a mountain. No one else was there. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance changed, and his clothing became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly process could ever make it. Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus.
OT Flash Points
Anguish & despair
None will listen but the Lord
The result of rebellion is sure & devastating
Who can heal?
The wound is too deep
NT Flash Points
“See” the Kingdom, actually means see
And seeing gives “authority” to be the least & servant of all
Avoid the Power Wagon syndrome
That’s when you are so fed up with other drivers that you think about putting a plow blade on the front of your car so you can run people down
Perspective
“Revival” is when Jesus comes, not when we talk about Jesus coming
The fullness of His life coming into our emptiness
Our darkness turned to day “As the Father has sent Me, so send I you.”
The breath of God
