Afflictions from the rod of God? Who did He bruise?
Lamentations 3-5/Mark 11-12

How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

3:1-3 I am the one who has seen the afflictions that come from the rod of the LORD’s anger. He has brought me into deep darkness, shutting out all light. He has turned against me. Day and night his hand is heavy upon me.
:20-24 I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

NT

12:7-9 “But the farmers said to one another, ‘Here comes the heir to this estate. Let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’ So they grabbed him and murdered him and threw his body out of the vineyard.
“What do you suppose the owner of the vineyard will do?” Jesus asked. “I’ll tell you–he will come and kill them all and lease the vineyard to others.
