There is never a good reason to disconnect from God
Psalm 73-76 / Hebrews 1-3
OT
73:25-26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
76:10 Surely your wrath against men brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
NT
1:1-3 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
2:14-15 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
OT Flash Points
The wicked seem to prosper
But they are on a slippery path headed toward a cliff
NT Flash Points
God has established salvation for His people
The ones who will believe on His Son, Jesus
This salvation is from the degrading life lived subject to our animal instincts
To live from a completely separate source
Note: the chemical make-up of our bodies changes constantly
Therefore temper and mood are powerful forces and seem to be reality –
But those who have begun to walk in the light must diligently press past that veil and work out into the natural world the light of God’s life, love and purpose which He works in.
Perspective
Prayer – private, secret place, willful blocking our wandering thoughts
Flings wide the door to God, shuts to all else, then His stamp is on everything
