Where do you hide?
1Samuel 21-23 / Luke 3-4

How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

22:1-2 So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and other relatives joined him there. Then others began coming–men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented–until David was the leader of about four hundred men.

NT

4:1-2 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit to go out into the wilderness, where the Devil tempted him for forty days. He ate nothing all that time and was very hungry.

OT Flash Points

David is driven to hiding in caves

NT Flash Points

Jesus was driven into the wilderness to be tried by Satan
The troubles – terrorism carried out by bands claiming allegiance to God
It cannot be quickly resolved
It must be drained like an infection
In the meantime, a stronghold must be found and lived in
The troubles will end only when Jesus comes

Perspective

2Peter 1-8  Conscious resolve becomes unconscious habit – simplification
Then habit is lost and only simple – at home – childlikeness appears
