Listen! Pay attention!
Proverbs 4-6/Romans 13-16
How to get the most out of Hungry Bible
OT
4:7-8 Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do! And whatever else you do, get good judgment. If you prize wisdom, she will exalt you. Embrace her and she will honor you.
:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.
NT
13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.
15:5-7 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
OT Flash Points
Son, follow my instructions
Look straight ahead, fix your eyes on what lies before you
Mark a straight path and stick to it
The way of the righteous is ever increasing light
Drink from your own well, share your love only with your wife
NT Flash Points
Submit yourself to the authorities set over you
Keep paying on your debt of love for others
Put on the armor of light
Why do you condemn other Christians?
They do what they do to please the Lord
Accept one another as Christ accepts you
Perspective
If you are a Jew, befriend a Christian
If you are a Christian Gentile, befriend a Jew
In all the world, Jews have only one friend: Christians
Unfortunately, they typically think we are the enemy
Remember, that is an optical illusion created by their true enemy
The Satanic rebellion against God would naturally target the people He chose
They are His illustrated message to the world
Our responsibility is to show that the One we have believed in
The One who has given us Life and hope and love
He is their Messiah
That, according to one of their greatest Rabbis, Saul of Tarsus, will make them jealous
What we have, was given first to them
And, Christians, don’t forget to act like a friend
Overcome evil with good, not argument
Don’t make a point, make a friend [of the biblical nature (look it up)]
