Receive Gods mercy, rest and grace to give
2Chronicles 7-9 / Hebrews 3-4
7:1-3 When Solomon finished praying, fire flashed down from heaven and burned up the burnt offerings and sacrifices, and the glorious presence of the LORD filled the Temple. The priests could not even enter the Temple of the LORD because the glorious presence of the LORD filled it. When all the people of Israel saw the fire coming down and the glorious presence of the LORD filling the Temple, they fell face down on the ground and worshiped and praised the LORD, saying, “He is so good! His faithful love endures forever!”
8:16 So Solomon made sure that all the work related to building the Temple of the LORD was carried out, from the day its foundation was laid to the day of its completion.
3:6 But Christ, the faithful Son, was in charge of the entire household. And we are God’s household, if we keep up our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.
:12-14 Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
OT Flash Points
Solomon’s reign marks the pinnacle of the fulfillment of God’s promise to Israel
They had finally, not only occupied the land given to them but ruled in peace
NT Flash Points
The Hebrews are the illustration for us who live “today” –
Not just of what faithfulness produces, but also what unfaithfulness will produce
Enter into God’s rest “today”
Find rest for your soul and grace to give help in time of need
OC – At first the new-born follower of Jesus appears to be maimed
Some things that are perfectly alright for everyone else must be put aside
Maybe it is even the best talent that he has or the best she can do
But now everything depends on the life of Jesus growing up, taking His rightful place
Just don’t judge someone else by your limitation
That’s private between you and Him
