Treasure in clay jars
2Kings 18-19 / 2Corinthians 4-6

How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

18:5-6 Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was never another king like him in the land of Judah, either before or after his time. He remained faithful to the LORD in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the LORD had given Moses.

NT

6:16-18 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.’ Therefore ‘Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.’ ‘I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.’

OT Flash Points

Hezekiah destroyed the idols, even the bronze serpent
Assyria threatens Jerusalem in Hebrew and God reacts

NT Flash Points

No deception or distortion in God
We are clay jars holding this treasure
Set your eyes on the unseen, eternal
Be reconciled to God’s purpose as He reveals it
He has designed the day specifically for you
The way to verify that is to love Him & be with Him as He unfolds it
Remember, His ways are not ours, our thoughts are not naturally His
So, our first instinct is to say, “That’s not God”
Be careful that you don’t attribute God’s actions to the devil
How ever you may look at it, that is not a good thing!
Here’s Jesus’ perspective – Matthew 12:22-32

Perspective

Where do you stay?
Come and see and dwell
There is no circumstance in life in which we cannot dwell with Jesus
Dwell: find out, know & base every thought, conclusion & resulting action exclusively on Jesus’ perspective!
How else can you be verifiably right?
Problem: either you do not want to dwell OR you think God cannot hold you
