How to get the most out of Hungry Bible

OT

6:1 It was in midspring, during the fourth year of Solomon’s reign, that he began the construction of the Temple of the LORD. This was 480 years after the people of Israel were delivered from their slavery in the land of Egypt.

:11-13 Then the LORD gave this message to Solomon: “Concerning this Temple you are building, if you keep all my laws and regulations and obey all my commands, I will fulfill through you the promise I made to your father, David. I will live among the people of Israel and never forsake my people.”

:37-38 The foundation of the LORD’s Temple was laid in midspring of the fourth year of Solomons reign. The entire building was completed in every detail by midautumn of the eleventh year of his reign. So it took seven years to build the Temple.

NT

16:5 So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew daily in numbers.

17:32-34 When they heard Paul speak of the resurrection of a person who had been dead, some laughed, but others said, “We want to hear more about this later.” That ended Paul’s discussion with them, but some joined him and became believers. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the Council, a woman named Damaris, and others.

OT Flash Points

Solomon builds the Temple, his palace and other magnificent buildings

NT Flash Points

Paul, Silas, Timothy, Priscilla and Aquilla, Apollos
– exploits by the Spirit in Derbe, Lystra, Athens, Antioch, Thessalonica, Berea, Corinth, Philippi of Macedonia
Paul casts a demon out of a servant girl that was telling fortunes and is sent to jail for it
A jailbreak brings the jailer and his family to Christ
Everyone seems to think Athens was a big flop
It was a very hard religious and intellectual ground, but some very influential people became believers
I don’t think Paul thought it was a flop
Making a judgment like that would assume he actually knew what he was doing, rather than depending on speaking by the Holy Spirit

Perspective

The Baptism of the Holy Ghost is not an experience apart from Christ but is the evidence/revelation/installation of the rulership of the ascended Christ in me
